Dawn Harries

Dawn Harries is an artist from South Wales, who takes her inspiration from the rugged Welsh coastline and beautiful South Wales countryside. Dawn works in a wide variety of media - Oil Paints, Acrylics, Pastels, Watercolour and Inks and adopts whichever medium she feels suits each piece, depending on the desired end effect . Working from her studio, her inspiration comes from the landscape and she uses sketches and/or photographs taken from walks around South and West Wales to produce a varied mix of work, from colourful oils, to monochrome inks. Her work is also influenced by other artists, old and new, such as Marc Bohne, Paul Lewin, Sarah Adams, Andrew Wyeth, Kyffin Williams and many more. In addition to her landscape painting, Dawn also paints Pet Portraits and was a short-listed finalist in the Artists & Illustrators ‘Artist of the Year 2011’, with an oil painting of her cat. Dawn is largely self-taught, and although she's been painting for several years, she believes that it's a constant learning process and each piece teaches her something new.
