Corlene Furstenberg

Corlene was born with the proverbial paintbrush in her hand, and has woven her colourful life around her remarkable artistic talent - conjoining the painted canvas and metal into unique works of art. She received her formal training in Fine Arts at Pretoria TECNICON, and achieved her degree in Entertainment Technology in 1996. Corlene particularly excelled in the manufacture of theatre props and décor painting, no canvas having ever been too large for her. Thus commenced her career in fine arts. Having been able to adjust her artistic style from the most classical to the ultra-modern , and being equally a well-schooled copy artist, Corlene initially created reproductions of a variety of great masters for the stage and screen, as well as decorating sets. Shortly thereafter she commenced the production of specialised artistic office installations, using her unique talent to transform corporate space into exiting work environments. These range from the creation of interactive walls of art for personnel to launch on arrival at their workplace, to establishing inspirational sculpture gardens for law firms. In terms of her artistic endeavours, Corlene's personal passion pertains to working with metals especially, since bending and cutting copper, steel and brass occupy a position of particular fascination for her. In this regard, she constructed a number of extraordinary metal sculptures over the last four years, her goal being again to create interactive art which the observer can touch, move and transform, and in this manner equally participate in the creative process.
