Buds Convocar

CONVOCAR Before pursuing a full time career in painting, Convocar spent his early years in the academe handling subjects such as Design, Illustration, Typography, Painting, Cartooning and a variety of other art subjects. Accumulatively he spent more than 20 years of teaching experience in University of the East, St. Scholastica, FEU, and College of St. Benilde- La Salle. Convocar is popularly known for his distinct mixed media artworks. He has had participated in exhibits here and abroad particularly in the United States, Europe, Asia and Brazil. ??He became the president of the Saturday Group of Artists in 2002 - 2007 and 2010 - 2013. He also became the president of the Art Association of the Philippines in 2008-2010. He represented the Philippines at the Sao Paolo Biennale in Brazil in 1994. He received numerous awards in various art competitions some of which are 10 Outstanding Artists of the Philippines - Diwa Ng Sining Award in 1994. Honorable Mentions in Phil. Art Awards in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 2001. Art Association of the Philippines Jurors Choice in 1992 and 3rd Prize in 1995. He also received Outstanding Alumnus Awards from Q.C. High School in 2006 and the University of the East in 2003.
