Rui Brás was born in 1964 in Lisbon, Portugal. He is a multifaceted artist whose work includes drawings, paintings and collages, as well as sculptures. He has been exhibiting artworks since the early 1980’s. Rui Brás is also an accomplished writer. In 1998 he received international recognition for his poetry and received a supreme award by “Académie Européenne des Arts” in Paris, France. Rui Brás has since published five books, and although successful in this field, with numerous invitations of recitals and radio shows, his passion remains with the art of painting. This has now become his main focus and drive. Rui Brás has participated in 19 collective exhibitions over the past years and he has held his own individual exhibitions 51 times. Rui Brás has an art studio which also doubles as a gallery, in the picturesque village of Cascais, Portugal.
