Orkhan Garayev (b. 1991, Ganja)
He graduated from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts in 2014, majoring in experimental painting. He is a member of the Azerbaijan Artists Union.
Garayev works with painting, graphics, book illustration, sculpture, and installations.
He is known and valued for his paintings that addressing social and spiritual themes, reflecting complex and emotional compositions. The artist regularly creates new works based on his current experience to develop his own unique aesthetic that combines elements of surrealism and abstract compositions with contemporary sensibility. Orkhan engraves colors and patterns on the canvas to form more artistic images that control perspective and depth.
His work has several periods that clearly reflect the life events he experienced. Currently, he is working on the theme of the relationship between human and nature. Many of his works use iconography of animals, trees, and plants that symbolize self-awareness.
It should be noted that his works clearly show the influence of graphic design.
In addition to painting and graphics, he has also illustrated a number of books by both local and foreign authors.
Artist's activities also include creating postage stamps for Azerbaijan that participate in international competitions representing our country.
Orkhan actively participates in local and international exhibitions both in the country and abroad. His artworks have been exhibited in Turkey, Germany, Russia, Georgia, Switzerland, France, the UAE, Luxembourg and Belgium.
He has been part of numerous successful and unconventional exhibitions, including his solo exhibition in 2021, titled "Date in Isolation."
He is also an ambassador of the French color brand Pebeo in Azerbaijan.
The artist is happy to conduct master classes and educational programs, sharing his skills and knowledge at various universities and museums.
