NUNO MEIRA

MEIR AA Z was born in Porto, Portugal. It is a late self-taught musician, lyricist, singer and graphic artist (with a short-acting incursion on cinema and TV) that tacitly uses a cinematic, dramatic, no-barriers approach to his work. His music is in the style of Spoken Word with messages declaimed in the form of poems or prose. However, it also passionately incurs on singing in some melodic sets. A passionate photographer and traveller, the bespoke graphic art on his albums is also inspired by his work as a professional on economic development and agriculture, including for a major international economic development and finance multilateral institution based in the U.S... He likes to create impact instead of mere transactions. With an experience of living and working in 5 different countries (Portugal, The Netherlands, Spain, Senegal, Ukraine) and almost 20 years abroad, speaking 5 different languages, his lyrics, melodies and voice bounce his feelings on the importance of internal self-growth and the call to try and understand the world surrounding us. The need to stand up to the challenges that are thrown over our lifetime without compromising our sense of self-worth and the importance of inter-cultural relationships, enhancing the dialogue between people and lessening conflict in the world, are other key elements driving his artistic approach. MEIR AA Z loves irony and the robust articulation of messages in written, spoken, musical, drawn, painted, graffitied or sculpted art.
