This is part of the series of Walking Figures, walking for me is a metaphor for the journey of life. My figures are walking in the light and towards the light, which is our essence and destiny. This is a vision of humanity and animals ascending to the light.
The painting is richly painted in many layers, creating a texture that invites a tactile response.
I have done it in Black and White as a rigorous discipline and as an extension of the beauty of black and white drawing.
