Like water on a hot day

This lush, vibrant still-life is a memory of summer afternoons, lazy dreaming and hiding in the shade. The heavy, luxurious sunflowers are painted with thick brushstrokes, full of texture and colour. The skies are brimming with expected rain. I always mix my colours in daylight, creating my own palette before starting the painting. Using high-quality natural canvas of my own preparation as a surface I then go on to explore such wonders as the difference in the colour of shadows cast by different objects or the smooth surface of glass compared to the texture of flowers and clouds.
