This motif is taken from a Maya ceramic. It shows a palace scene. The king sitting on his throne catches the eye. According to the hieroglyphic text he is a king from the maya city Motul de San José en Guatemala. For his comfort, he has a huge pillow behind his back. The king is looking into a mirror being hold by a dwarf. Behind this dwarf, there is another dwarf trying the quality of the king´s food. Behind the second dwarf, there is a hunchbacked man. To the left, there are musical instruments to be seen: a conch and two wooden trumpets.
