‘ Reminiscence’ is a “National Fine Art Award ” winning painting honored by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts during National Fine Art Exhibition in April 2016. About this painting when Earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015 , I felt the experience in life like a thread in between the death and life and i remembered the image of the GOD but felt the absence of it in such a crucial situation . As i read a statement in a newspaper that “god is already in the pity, so what about the human being ” stated by a EQ victim, I thought the GOD even in helpless situation and lost the power to save the human beings.
This painting is composed with the motif of water boat as a symbolical representation of life over the liquid of death and the main motif has been taken from the sculptor of ‘ Avaloketeshvara’ as symbol of the ‘ The Protector of The World’ and composed it in the middle of the boat as a symmetrical composition. The background has been painted in the textural effect of the bitter guard (TITE KARELA) to show bitter moments surrounded by us and the wave of the life. The couple of pigeons stands for the symbol of the innocence and stiff part of the life.
