Saint Demetrius -“Icons in Romanian clothes”
(~end of III century), celebrated on the 26th of October
A Saint martyr who showed that believing in God is above social status, wealth and position. Dual physiognomy shows the transition from pagan to Christian, from bad to good or permanently, from one season to another, from life to death ... etc. In time, from his tomb where drops of myrrh were flowing, he became the Myrrh Source; Myrrh which, in the icon, is personified through a mourning flower.
