Part of a series of works inspired by my current location in Shanghai, China. Much of the series, called 'The Middle Kingdom', looks at the traces of human activity and thought on the landscape, both physical and mental. This particular piece is meant to capture the early point in a regime or dynasty, where everything is filled with optimism.
