Oil on canvas. Subject is the character "Ophelia" from Shakespeare's play, "Hamlet". This has been done a number of times since the character's first appearance. The scene is ephemeral in feeling as Ophelia floats along the surface of the water, with a distant sun diffusing light throughout the entire frame of the composition. Several transparent filters of colour have been applied to increase depth.
